Start with the facility protocol
Before service, identify room types, surfaces, dwell-time requirements, restricted areas and the products the practice authorizes. The office should name a clinical or facilities contact who can resolve questions and update instructions.
Cleaning and disinfection are not interchangeable terms. Any disinfectant use must follow its label, including surface compatibility, contact time and required precautions.
Separate routine cleaning from clinical duties
A plan may cover waiting rooms, reception, offices, restrooms, floors and agreed exam-room environmental surfaces. Staff should remove or secure charts, medications, sharps and instruments before service.

Waste, sharps and exposure conditions
Sharps, pharmaceuticals, red-bag waste and other regulated materials must be managed through the practice's approved process and vendors. Containers should be closed, correctly located and never mixed with ordinary trash.
Blood, bodily fluids, isolation precautions or another exposure condition must be disclosed. Work outside the agreed routine scope may require the practice's specialist provider.
Privacy and access
The practice should secure patient records, screens and conversations and restrict access to areas not in scope. Cleaning should be scheduled when rooms are released and safe to enter. This is an operational boundary, not a claim that cleaning service itself establishes HIPAA compliance.
